Personality
Yao has a difficult past that made him the way he is today. If you saw him at first glance you would see that he's a coldhearted man. If you got to know him over time you would see that he's just someone who has good intentions. Yao wanted to find a purpose in life. He saw an opportunity to strive for such a purpose and he seized it. He worked for several criminal gangs in operations such as black markets and striking fear in people around the country. When the Opium Wars started he was there selling and buying opium.
That was the past and this is now. One fateful encounter changed his whole world upside down. Now he's seeking a new purpose. If he's someone that he cares about he won't hesitate to help the best he can. He does open up but you just have to give it time.
If you're one of those who is near and dear to his heart he'll do what he can to protect you. He might not be the most romantic guy you'll come across but he attempts to try. Even through trying he feels a bit silly 'cause it's not really his thing. He'll even get slightly embarrassed and can't find the words to say if an awkward situation pops up.
Yao is someone who people would classify as a violent drunk. He can hold his liquor unless someone pisses him off. He then tends to drink without thinking which just gets his blood pressure up. After the final straw watch out. He'll stop at nothing to exact revenge.
His weapon of choice is a chain whip and he can manipulate fire, a technique he calls Phoenix Fire. There's a trick to his fire abilities though. The fire has to be connected to him in some way in order for him to use it effectively. Any stray fire just fizzles out into weak embers. He can combine his fire and chain whip to cause more damage. He also knows several pressure points and some martial arts.
Appearance is everything, well at least to Yao. His awkwardness in a relationship all depends on this view. He doesn't like romance in public and would prefer to keep romance at home. Doing childish things like playing games isn't his thing either. These things just detract from his tough guy image that he upholds. But it's all a facade that he keeps up. So far he's doing good at fooling people by hiding his true feelings and keeping up a cold front. It's just natural to him now after many years of practice.
